Accelerated Bachelor’s to Master’s: Media and Communication

Criteria and Application Requirements

Students interested in pursuing the Accelerated Bachelor’s to Master’s in Media and Communication program plan must:

  1. Be pursuing one of the following degrees/majors:
    • Bachelor of Arts in Communication
    • Bachelor of Arts, major in Communication
    • Bachelor of Arts, major in Media Production and Studies
    • Bachelor of Arts, major in Advertising
    • Bachelor of Science in Journalism  
  2. By the start of the student’s Accelerated status, they must have either:
    • 75 credit hours earned and an overall BGSU GPA of at least 3.2, or
    • 90 credit hours earned and an overall BGSU GPA of at least 3.0;
  3. Complete Accelerated Bachelor’s to Master’s Program Application;
  4. Submit transcripts from all universities attended;
  5. Submit at least one letter of recommendation from a full-time BGSU faculty member, preferably from graduate faculty within the student’s major or targeted graduate program;
  6. Submit a personal essay that explains the student’s academic interests and how those interests match to faculty and areas of emphasis in the School of Media & Communication.

Once the student completes their undergraduate degree, they should complete the remaining requirements for the Master of Arts in Media and Communication program.
