Accelerated Bachelor’s to Master’s: History

Criteria and Application Requirements
Students interested in pursuing the Accelerated Bachelor’s to Master’s in History program plan must:
- Be pursuing a BA in History
- By the start of the student’s Accelerated status, they must have either:
- 75 credit hours earned and an overall BGSU GPA of at least 3.2, or
- 90 credit hours earned and an overall BGSU GPA of at least 3.0;
- Complete Accelerated Bachelor’s to Master’s Program Application;
- Submit transcripts from all universities attended;
- Submit at least two letters of recommendation from a full-time BGSU faculty member, preferably from graduate faculty within the student’s major or targeted graduate program.
- Submit a statement of purpose describing how the History MA program aligns with applicant’s professional objectives.
- Submit a writing sample: A research paper of at least 12 pages in length that is heavily based upon the analysis of primary documents and situated within the broader scholarship.
Once the student completes their undergraduate degree, they shoudl complete the remaining requirements for the Master of Arts in History program.

Select from the following list (no more than 9 credits total)
Courses that may be taken while an undergraduate studen with Undergraduate Accelerated Status that will overlap between the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree: - HIST 5XXX (any 5000 level HIST Course)
- HIST 6XXX (a 6000 level HIST Course with the approval of the History Graduate Program Coordinator)
