Accelerated Bachelor’s to Master’s: Athletic Training

Criteria and Application Requirements

Students interested in pursuing the Accelerated Bachelor’s to Master’s of Athletic Training program plan must :  

  1. Be pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Education with major in Exercise Science;
  2. By the start of the student’s Accelerated status, have either:
    • 75 credit hours earned and an overall BGSU GPA of at least 3.2, or
    • 90 credit hours earned and an overall BGSU GPA of at least 3.0;
  3. Complete Accelerated Bachelor’s to Master’s Program Application;
  4. Submit transcripts from all universities attended;
  5. Submit at least two letters of recommendation. One must be from a full-time BGSU faculty member, preferably from graduate faculty within the student’s major or targeted graduate program. The other must be from a certified athletic trainer;
  6. Submit a statement of purpose describing understanding of the roles and responsibilities of an athletic trainer within the allied healthcare setting and within the directions and trends of the profession;
  7. Have completed the AT technical standards;
  8. Provide evidence of 40 hours of observation under the supervision of a Certified Athletic Trainer.

Once the student completes their undergraduate degree, they should complete the remaining requirements for the Master in Athletic Training program.
