The demand for professionals with skills in statistical analysis, operations research, and information systems management has surged due to advancements in computing power and data acquisition. The Master’s of Science in Analytics (MSA) at BGSU aims to prepare students for successful careers by equipping them with the analytical and technical expertise needed to make sense of and leverage large amounts of data for a competitive edge in the business world.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the Master’s degree, students in the MSA program are expected to be able to:
- Analyze business data using descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics.
- Apply statistical, database management, and business intelligence techniques using software and hardware platforms pertaining to big data analytics.
- Implement project management skills necessary to manage the scope, time, cost, quality, and viability of analytic projects.
- Relate how analytics are applied to critical tasks in one or more business disciplines.
- Communicate effectively using creative data presentations and visualizations.
Admission Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum 2.75 overall GPA from an accredited university with a grade of B or better in an undergraduate-level statistics course. If degree transcripts do not include coursework in statistics, applicants must complete STAT 6010 (Statistics for Managerial Decisions) as a prerequisite or corequisite, which can alternatively be satisfied with significant professional experience as determined by the MSA Program Committee.

- Scanned copies of official or unofficial transcripts from all institutions attended. Upon admission, final official or notarized copies of transcripts from all institutions where degrees were earned and diplomas from international institutions must be submitted.
- International applicants are required to submit additional documents per BGSU Graduate International Admissions requirements including, but not limited to, proof of English language proficiency.

Additional Requirements
- Minimum of 3 credits of 6990 required for Plan I master’s students. Maximum of 6 credits may be applied toward degree requirements.
- Minimum 3.0 graduate cumulative grade point average
- Minimum of 18 credits must be at the 6000-level or higher
- Minimum of 24 credits must be earned at BGSU
- All requirements must be completed within six years from the end of the earliest course used to fulfill degree requirements.
