Human Development and Family Science, Minor

The minor in Human Development and Family Science (HDFS) is designed to offer students an introduction to family science research and theory in addition to a broad understanding of human development across the lifespan. Students can select coursework with a focus on a specific developmental age and family science topic. Overall, students gain a greater understanding of contemporary family systems and contexts using strengths-based and trauma-informed perspectives. Courses in the minor cover topics such as diversity, resource management, sexuality, and family stress. 

The minor consists of 21 credit hours. Five courses (15 credits) are required. For the remaining 6 credit hours, students must select one human development course and one family science course form the lists below.
