Career Technical Workforce Education, Certificate (online)

Information regarding Licensure, Endorsement, or Accreditation: The graduate certificate program in Career Technical Workforce Development completes the necessary academic requirements for an individual hired to teach in a career technical education subject area with a 2-year provisional license for Career-Technical Workforce Development State to advance the license to a Five-Year Advanced Career-Technical Workforce Development License. The certificate courses are approved by the Ohio Department of Education through Ohio Administrative Code. Coursework completed for this certificate can be applied towards a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Teaching. 

Admission Requirements

In order to apply for this certificate, applicants must successful complete EDWF 4100, or the equivalent, with a grade of “B” or better and currently hold a State of Ohio 4-year Alternative Career Tech Workforce Development Resident Educator License or Provisional 2-year Career Tech Workforce Development License. This certificate is for individuals hired to teach in a State of Ohio Career Tech Program. This certificate must be completed before individuals can pursue the Master’s in Curriculum and Teaching - MEd. Approximately 5 additional courses would be required to earn the Master’s degree.

By completing this certificate, you will complete the coursework required to apply for the ODE Career Tech Workforce Development Teaching License. You also earn the BGSU Career Technical Workforce Education Certificate and this will post to your BGSU transcript showing that you have completed 20 hours of graduate credit hours. After completing this coursework, you will need to pass the Performance Based Assessment through the BGSU Career Tech Workforce Education department prior to applying for the ODE license.
