Organization Development, MOD

Designed for experienced managers, human resource and development professionals, owners of small businesses, and consultants, the Master of Organization Development is an executive (part-time) degree program designed to help individuals systematically transform their organizations into world-class competitors. The M.O.D. combines online instruction with weekend classes during the spring, summer, and fall semesters.

This 20-month program prepares graduates to meet the leadership challenges of an ever-changing, increasingly demanding organizational environment by developing the knowledge and skill required to enhance individual, team, and organizational performance.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the Master’s degree, students in the Organization Development program are expected to be able to:

  • GOAL - HEART: Demonstrate competence in self- effectiveness (SELF-EFFECTIVENESS)
    • Outcomes: Students will -
      • Examine intra- and inter-personal awareness through proactive behaviors and critical reflection (Intrapersonal/self-awareness)
      • Design and facilitate effective communication and collaboration with all stakeholders (Professional competence)
  • GOAL - HEAD: Demonstrate foundational understanding of the behavioral sciences (BEHAVIORAL SCIENCE KNOWLEDGE)
    • Outcomes: Students will -
    • Demonstrate knowledge of the history and core values of OD (Foundations of OD)
    • Apply knowledge of individual and group-level theories, models and perspectives of human behavior to evaluate and intervene in organizations and communities (Human behavior)
    • Apply conceptual frameworks to demonstrate knowledge of organizations as systems (Organizational systems)
  • GOAL - HANDS: Demonstrate competence in the process and practice of organization development (OD PROCESS AND PRACTICE)
    • Outcomes: Students will -
    • Engage in inquiry and analysis to facilitate positive organizational change (Data)
    • Design, apply, and evaluate OD interventions in service of organization and community success (Process)

International applicants are required to submit scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or the Pearson Test of English Academic (PTEA). Successful completion of ELS 112 will also be accepted for this requirement. 

Additionally, Duolingo test scores will be accepted for applications through Summer 2025. Applicants of the Graduate College who have completed a previous degree (associate, bachelor’s master’s or doctorate) from a U.S. college/university or are from a country (click here for a complete list) in which instruction was delivered in English (and attended the university for at least two years) are exempt from providing these test scores.

  • Minimum 3.0 graduate cumulative grade point average
  • Minimum of 18 credits must be at the 6000-level or higher
  • Minimum of  24 credits must be earned at BGSU
  • All requirements must be completed within six years from the end of the earliest course used to fulfill degree requirements.
