The Master of Health Services Administration (MHSA) degree prepares professionals for leadership positions in complex, rapidly changing structure and financing of healthcare and health service organizations. With real world internships and coursework taught by faculty and working leaders of health organizations, the program prepares graduates with the business, technological, public health and leadership foundations to lead health services organizations.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the Master’s degree, students in the Health Services Administration program are expected to be able to:
- Master fundamental principles in business, technology and management in healthcare settings.
- Demonstrate communication and interpersonal effectiveness.
- Master applications of technology in health care practice.
- Use analytics to solve problems in health services administration.
- Demonstrate professionalism and ethical behavior.
- Analyze and evaluate daily operations for quality and efficiency.
- Make decisions based upon organizational priorities and financially sound business principles.
- Apply fundamental administrative and leadership skills to solve problems, evaluate outcomes and strategically plan in health services settings.
Admission Requirements
Deadlines: Fall semester August 1, Spring semester November 1, Summer semester April 1.
A minimum GPA of 2.7 is required to apply for admission.
Additional Documents required:
- Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is required unless one of the following are met:
- Greater than or equal to a 2.7 undergraduate GPA on a 4.0 scale (enter your GPA and GPA Scale on the Academic History tab)
- Earned Master’s degree
- 5 years of related work experience
- Two letters of recommendation
- Resume
- Statement of Purpose
International applicants are required to submit scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or the Pearson Test of English Academic (PTEA). Successful completion of ELS 112 will also be accepted for this requirement.
Additionally, Duolingo test scores will be accepted for applications through Summer 2025. Applicants of the Graduate College who have completed a previous degree (associate, bachelor’s master’s or doctorate) from a U.S. college/university or are from a country (click here for a complete list) in which instruction was delivered in English (and attended the university for at least two years) are exempt from providing these test scores.
