Organization Development and Change, DODC

This leading-edge program develops experts in transforming organizations, revitalizing communities, and developing human potential.  Designed for working professionals who seek to lead, consult, and educate at the highest levels in organizations and communities, the 3-year accelerated degree is specifically designed for busy professionals to advance their goals without putting careers on hold. 

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the Doctoral degree, students in the Organization Development and Change program are expected to be able to:

  • Lead, manage, consult, educate, and facilitate organization development and change.
  • Utilize collaborative approaches across time and space at the individual, group, organization, and transorganizational levels.
  • Apply the research process, including action research, to address real world challenges.
  • Investigate, scan, and diagnose challenges and opportunities with organizations and communities.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate evidence-based organization development and change interventions.
  • Integrate interdisciplinary perspectives grounded in the behavioral sciences.
  • Demonstrate professional and personal skills necessary to influence others and serve as an effective change agent.

Admission Requirements

Program is part-time and begins Fall 2019. Applicant are required to have a Master’s degree.
Documents required:

  • Submit scores from the Graduate Record Examination (GRE*) or the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT*). The GMAT code for BGSU is SVL-bt-53.
  • Two Letters of Recommendation
  • Resume
  • Statement of Purpose (Approximately 1,000-5,000 words addressing three questions. See the departmental web site for complete instructions.)

*Applicants with five or more years of professional work experience and an undergraduate grade point average of at least 2.8 on a 4.0 scale may be eligible for an exemption from the GMAT/GRE. It’s recommended that a candidate have at least five years of significant management experience. Please contact dodc@bgsu.edu for more information on the GMAT/GRE waiver.

  • Minimum 3.0 graduate cumulative grade point average
  • Maximum of 10 credits of 5000-level coursework may be counted toward degree requirements
  • Preliminary Examination or Project
  • Minimum of  16 credits of dissertation research (maximum of 30 credits of dissertation research are applicable to degree requirements)
  • Dissertation Defense and Publication of Manuscript on OhioLINK
  • All requirements must be completed within eight years from the end of the earliest course used to fulfill degree requirements.
