The Department of Psychology offers a Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy with a specialization of Cognitive and Neural Sciences. Students can select to pursue a focus in Cognitive and Social Psychology or Neuroscience. Students are only admitted for the Ph.D. but students can earn a master’s enroute to the doctorate.

PSYC 6680 - Statistical Theory II
PSYC 6240 - Methodology in Psychology I or PSYC 6870 - Independent Study (methods, 3 credits) or PSYC 7800 - Graduate Seminar (methods, 3 credits)

Electives (18 credits)

Neuroscience seminars. Select 2 courses of PSYC 5810 - Seminar in Psychology , for 1 credit each. Choose from:

Cognitive seminar
Neuroscience seminar

PSYC 6990 - Thesis Research

Additional Requirements

Minimum of 3 credits of 6990 required for Plan I master’s students. Maximum of 6 credits may be applied toward degree requirements.
Minimum 3.0 graduate cumulative grade point average
Minimum of 18 credits must be at the 6000-level or higher
Minimum of 24 credits must be earned at BGSU
All requirements must be completed within six years from the end of the earliest course used to fulfill degree requirements.
