Usually, this program is for licensure purposes only. However, the courses may be applied to the M.Ed. degree in reading if the student has obtained regular admission to the Graduate College.
Information regarding Licensure, Endorsement, or Accreditation: The Ohio Board of Higher Education mandates that candidates for the Reading Endorsement meet the following program prerequisites: (a) current educator license, (b) completed Baccalaureate degree, and (c) completion of 9-12 prerequisite hours of reading coursework contingent on teaching license currently held by the applicant.

Deadline for Summer Term is two weeks before Summer Session 1.
By completing this certificate you will complete the coursework required to apply for the ODE Reading Endorsement. You also earn the BGSU Reading Endorsement Certificate and this will post to your BGSU transcript showing that you have completed 15 hours (5 courses) of reading graduate credit hours.After completing this coursework, you will need to take the OAE 038 and OAE 039 test to add the endorsement to your license. Note: Students who earned an Alternative License cannot add the Reading Endorsement to their license until they convert their alternative license to the 5-year professional license.

Submit scores from the appropriate PRAXIS II, or Ohio Assessments for Educators (OAE) or edTPA test. Your test score will be waived if you have an earned Master’s degree. Acceptable Praxis II and OAE scores include:
