Minor Only
(18 Credits)
The Canadian Studies minor is designed to provide students with an interdisciplinary program of study focusing on one of the United States’ most important international relationships-Canada. Students can study areas of interest in greater depth, which will enhance future career opportunities. Canadian Studies can be used with any major (business administration, history, international studies, etc.).
The program consists of 18 credit hours planned in consultation with the coordinator of Canadian studies. CAST 2010 , Introduction to Canadian Studies, (3) is required. This course takes a comparative approach contrasting Canada to the United States in history, geography, political systems, economy, literature, art, and popular culture. HIST 4140, History of Canada, (3) is also required. The remaining 12 credit hours are arranged to complement the student’s major. At least three departments are to be represented. The study of French is strongly advised.
