Sport Management, BSED

Sport management graduates find employment in a wide variety of careers such as professional sport administrator, corporate administrator of sporting events, tournament director, college/university athletics director, business manager, fundraising administrator, sport facility manager, account executives for professional teams, sales representatives for sporting goods companies, or marketing directors in intercollegiate athletics programs, conference offices, governing bodies, sport journalists, sport information directors in intercollegiate athletics programs or athletic conference offices, or work in public/community or media relations with professional teams. This degree program is designed to be completed in 8 semesters.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the baccalaureate degree, students in sport management are expected to:

Synthesize information related to the sport industry from multiple sources in a critical manner.
Develop quality solutions to complex sport industry problems using informed reasoning skills.
Compose written documents that clearly, concisely, and accurately convey information.
Perform verbal presentations that clearly, concisely, and accurately convey information.
Collaborate with others in diverse group settings to promote teamwork and inclusion in sport.
Perform leadership skills in sport management.

If, after completion of SM requirements and the minor requirements a student has not yet met the 122 required hours, they must meet with their academic advisor to determine appropriate classes to reach the required 122 hours.
ECON 2000 (prerequisite for MKT 3000) and PSYC 1010 (prerequisite for SM 3650/SM 3660) are recommended in the BG Perspective portion of the program as they are prerequisites to related classes.
The total number of hours earned in the College of Business Administration courses may not exceed 25 percent or 30 hours of the 122 needed for graduation, counting the major and minor (six hours of STAT and nine hours of ECON are exempt from this limitation.)
Courses in the SM major may not be taken on the S/U basis.

SENIOR YEAR: You must apply for graduation on-line prior to the term deadline. You must also complete at least 30 hours of coursework at BGSU.

Bachelor of Science in Education. This degree program is designed to be completed in 8 semesters. Changing majors, academic issues or other unforeseen circumstances may require additional semesters for completion.
