ARTH 3370 - Northern Renaissance Art Credits: 3
Description: This course examines the art and architecture produced in select European countries located north of the Alps from the late fourteenth century through the sixteenth century. Particular attention is given to the social context of artistic production and reception, and to certain issues that are critical to the study of Northern European art, including the connection between art and devotional life, court culture, the effect of Humanism and the Reformation on artistic production, regional differences in patronage of the arts, and the shifting status of the artist.
Prerequisite(s): one of ARTH 1450 , ARTH 1460 , or ARTH 2700 , or consent of instructor. When Offered: Spring.
