Fall, Spring. This course introduces students to theoretical, methodological, philosophical, epistemological, and ethical foundations and commitments of research methods and practices appropriate to American Culture Studies and related disciplines. While the course addresses a broad spectrum of research methods and mixed methods strategies, it will focus on the qualitative, critical, and interpretive research methods most widely used for the study of culture, cultural studies, and cultural phenomena, and intersections of historical, textual, critical ethnographic, performance-based, and activist research approaches.
