POLS 4450 - Racial and Ethnic Politics

Description: This course examines the history and contemporary role of minority groups in the U.S. political system. It is intended as an overview of racial attitudes, racial policies, and the processes by which racial and ethnic groups have/have not been incorporated into the American political system. The course focuses on the political experiences of European immigrant groups, blacks, Latinos, and Asians, and examines both political institutions, coalitions, parties, representation, and behavior at the state and federal level. Credit cannot be earned for both POLS 4450 and POLS 5550.
