Description: Study of influential political ideas in early Greek, Roman, and Judeo-Christian thought. “What is Justice?” “How is the relation between citizen and state to be understood?” “What is the nature of the good life?” “Is democracy the best or the worst form of government?” Writer such as Thucydides, Plato, Aristotle, and Cicero are examined. Fundamental ideas such as virtue, distributive justice, rational deliberation, and universal human qualities are examined.
