PHIL 3300 - Theory of Knowledge Credits: 3
Description: Alternate years. What is the difference between merely having a true belief and knowing something? What do we know? What, exactly, is evidence? What is it for a belief to be “justified”? Is all knowledge, like science, acquired through observation? What is scientific reasoning and why is it a route to knowledge? Are there other routes? Is there a way to address the skeptical challenge that we don’t really know anything at all? Prerequisite: three hours in PHIL or consent of instructor.
Prerequisite(s): three hours in PHIL or consent of instructor. When Offered: Alternate years.
