NURS 3428 - Community and Population Health Credits: 3
Description: This course will focus on the healthcare needs of the community and population. Students will incorporate the nursing process and nursing theory to address disease prevention and health promotion in populations across the lifespan. Concepts of social justice, advocacy, determinants of health, and resource management will be examined. Application of clinical judgement in emergency preparedness, and disaster planning in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams will be explored. Students will discuss the impact of issues such as substance abuse, mental healthcare, natural disasters, and violence on diverse communities. Prerequisite: Admission to RN to BSN. Approved for distance education.
