GERM 4040 - German Literature and Music

Description: Relations between German literature and music. Rotating topics may include the texted works of one composer (Schubert, Wagner), musical settings of the works of one author (Goethe, Schiller, Heine), or music criticism (Schumann, Hoffmann). Readings and class conducted in English, with opportunity to read in German. Prerequisite: junior standing or permission of instructor.
