Description: Fall, Spring. Course focuses on music learning and teaching at the elementary level. Content will include an introduction to human learning and musical development; the development of children’s musical understanding in grades K-6; methods and approaches to teaching music; unit and lesson planning; developing creativity in young musicians; assessment strategies, techniques, and documents; teaching music to students with special needs; using technology as a tool for learning; and developing musicianship and pedagogical skills. Prerequisites: Music majors only.
